Reading Day
On 19th June 2025, our school observed National Reading Day in remembrance of P.N. Panicker, the father of the Library Movement in India. The day was celebrated to emphasize the importance of reading in education and personal growth.
In the days leading up to the event, students from Grades 5 to 10 were each assigned to read a book of their choice. This initiative aimed to develop a strong reading habit, encourage self-learning, and spark curiosity through literature.
To mark the occasion, a quiz competition was conducted grade wise based on the books read by the students. The quiz saw enthusiastic participation, and students showcased their knowledge and understanding of various texts. On-the-spot prizes were awarded to the winners, which added excitement and motivation for all participants.
As a special contribution to the event, the Kannada Department donated a valuable collection of Kannada books to the school library. This thoughtful gesture not only enriched the library’s collection but also promoted a love for reading in the regional language.
In conclusion, the celebration of National Reading Day was a meaningful and inspiring event. It not only honored the legacy of a great visionary but also nurtured the habit of reading among students. The day stood as a reminder that reading opens the door to knowledge, imagination, and lifelong learning.
